Pregnancy

In today’s medical world women are not getting the care they deserve or desire and many are turning to homebirths with midwives to get what they are looking for. I was one of those women and I have now had three children at home surrounded by my family. If you have been thinking about having a homebirth and are wondering if it is something that you can do, I want to encourage you to seek out as much information as you can before deciding that you can’t. See a lot of times our mind will tell us that something is too hard or too scary and that stops us from moving forward towards our desires. 

God gave me a supernatural belief in my ability to birth our child naturally.....I have a FIRM belief in the ability of all women to be able to do this........Can we tell our body to get pregnant?.......We have little control over when we will get pregnant, how that pregnancy will go, or what our baby will look like in the end......I believe that this is true for anything you are drawn to learn or do in life!

So he agreed to having the homebirth I wanted... Having Jonathan (my husband) on board with contracting a midwife and having a homebirth was the answer to my prayers and everything I wanted. I didn’t tell my OB that I was going for a home birth because I wasn’t going to give him any opportunities to speak negatively into what I WANTED!

Being pregnant again was such a blessing and looking back it still amazes me that it was soooo easy. After trying for so long for our first and having to get fertility help, getting pregnant right away when trying again and then losing that baby…….So there I was realizing that I didn’t want to take my chances with this medical group and have someone I didn’t trust involved in my care in any way.....This time around I didn’t let the doctor dictate to me how or what I would be doing...

If you have ever suffered through the loss of a pregnancy you know the mental battle that comes along after that loss.......I also came to realize how different the experience was from my first miscarriage. I barely had time to process because we had a toddler who needed me........I had, however, started supporting my progesterone balance.

A little over a year after our daughter was born we decided that we wanted to have another baby... Since we were unable to conceive on our own the first time, we weren’t sure what trying again would look like. We hoped for the best of course but again, would it work or would it be a challenge again?.......there wasn’t a fetal pole and had to get some bloodwork done to determine if I was in the process of miscarrying...

I didn’t know what I didn’t know! - But I do know now! Have you ever been at a point in your life where you follow ALL the things, don’t question the ‘experts’, and just go with the direction others are TELLING you is the best way? That is what I did with my first pregnancy and by the end...

I had no idea how hard breastfeeding would be in those first few weeks or how sore my nipples would get. On top of being sore she wouldn’t nurse on the left side at all!! I had to start her on the right side every time just to get her going so I could switch her to the left side. I’ll be honest I wouldn’t have made it through without the amazing support of my husband. There were times that I wasn’t even able to hold her while she was nursing, so I would be standing in the middle of the room with him holding her up to me!!

I’m going to be honest here because I want to make sure you understand where I am coming from as you go further with me on this journey. This experience could have been so different if I had of known I had options but ultimately I gave up. In the end I gave in to having the c-section because I wanted my OB out of my life and the way I saw it once our baby was born I would have one more appointment with her and then I was done!!!

So I FINALLY got a positive pregnancy test and we were on our way to becoming parents. So exciting and so overwhelming at the same time. I had waited so long for this to happen!! So let’s back up for just a second, in my last blog I ended it at the positive test and my husband and I living in the moment together…….Want to know what the next thing out of my mouth was?!?
